Portuguese Lizard Camouflage Pattern

Collection: Portuguese Lizard

The Portuguese Lizard Camouflage (M1964 or m64) was developed in the 1960s for use in Portugal’s decolonization wars, notably in Angola and Mozambique. It features vertical dark green and brown stripes on a light green background, blending well with jungle terrains. Inspired by French lizard patterns, its vertical design suited counter-insurgency operations. Elite units like paratroopers and commandos wore it, and it remains in service today with the Portuguese Marines. Despite minor variations, the core design has stayed consistent, reflecting its enduring effectiveness in combat environments.
