The M81 Urban Camouflage Zip Hoodie integrates a reinterpretation of the U.S. M81 pattern, translated into a monochrome palette of black, gray, and white. While the original woodland design was optimized for engagement distances of roughly 300 meters in temperate forest conditions, this high-contrast variant shifts its focus toward visual impact rather than concealment. The result is a study in adaptation—an archival camouflage transformed into an abstract urban motif.
Constructed from recycled polyester with added spandex, the hoodie combines flexibility, structure, and comfort. The outer surface has a soft, cotton-like texture, while the inner brushed fleece provides insulation and warmth. A double-lined hood, relaxed fit with drop shoulders, and precision metal hardware contribute to both function and durability. All materials meet GRS and OEKO-TEX Standard 100 certifications for verified environmental and material safety compliance.

The M81 Urban Camouflage Pattern is a recoloration of the original M81 Woodland design. Though not officially adopted, it was notably used by the US Marine Corps during a 1994 urban operations training at Fort Benning. This pattern was part of a study evaluating various urban camouflage options, including disruptive and monotone designs. However, both the woodland and 3-color urban camo performed poorly in urban night conditions.
